Samsung reveals a redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1 together with Galaxy Tab 8.9 at CTIA 2011.
The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 has reduced its thickness to 8.6mm. That’s 0.2 mm less than Apple iPad 2 8.8 mm thickness. The weight of the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 was also reduced to 595 grams. That’s 6 grams lighter than Apple iPad 2 601 grams weight. The redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1 also looks sexier, while still retaining the superior hardware features of the previous Galaxy Tab 10.1.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has the same thickness of 8.6mm, but weighs only 470 grams. Furthermore, it has a screen size of 8.9-inch but with an impressive resolution of 1280×800.
Samsung claims to have the world’s thinnest and lightest mobile tablets.
The new Galaxy Tabs will also feature the first customized version of Android 3.0 with Samsung’s own TouchWiz user interface. Offering superior multi-tasking and enhanced user interface.

Pricing and Release Dates
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available in US on June 8, 2011. While the Samsung Galaxy 8.9 is expected to arrive much earlier than the redesigned Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

This is all thanks to Apple iPad 2 for making Samsung “rethink” their strategy, redesign thinner and much lighter tablets, as well as for the cheaper pricing for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
