HTC Unlocks Bootloaders for DROID Incredible, Desire Z, and More

HTC has added six more HTC smartphones to its growing list of supported smartphone for its bootloader unlock tool.

The additional six smartphones supported include:

  • HTC Aria
  • HTC ChaCha
  • HTC Desire Z
  • HTC DROID Incredible
  • HTC Status
  • T-Mobile G2

Unlocking the bootloader allows user to root the device for installing custom version of Android Operating System. However, HTC also warns that unlocking the bootloader may void your warranty.

What does this mean for me?

Unlocking the bootloader means that you now have the ability to customize software on your device. Please note that changing your bootloader can cause significant issues with your device and once you have unlocked your device, you have agreed to the disclaimer that states a change in warranty status such that in the event you render your device unusable, you are responsible for the recovery of your device, whether by repair or by other means.

Asus Transformer Prime Tablet Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update and BootLoader Unlock Tool Announced

ASUS announced today that the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 will be made available on January 12, 2012.

In the same announcement, ASUS also addressed issues concerning the built-in GPS and the locked bootloader on the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

Hasbro sues ASUS over Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android Tablet

Apple does not even need to concern itself over stopping, yet another, Android tablet from taking another bite out of the tablet market share, which is still largely dominated by the Apple iPad.
