You might also know that pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds will give you the option to “slide to power off.”

After powering off your iPad, holding the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds will once again “Power On” your iPad. You will see the familiar Apple logo along with a rotating circular progress indicator. After a few seconds, you will be presented with the locked screen.

For both cases, the only solution would be to force your iPad to restart. Unfortunately, the iPad does not have a Restart button or pinhole release.

How to force iPad to restart?

Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Your screen should turn black. Keep holding the two buttons until the Apple logo appears. Once the Apple logo appears, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

Forcing your iPad to restart requires a little bit of skill and patience. If you do not get it right the first time, do not fret. Keep trying until your iPad reboots. Do not worry as this is perfectly safe and will not damage your iPad or corrupt your data.

For obvious reasons, before attempting to force your iPad to restart, please ensure that it is not yet fully discharged — no amount of retries can power up a “battery-dead” iPad. =)

Apple’s latest iOS updates seems to be plagued with lots of problems. From randomly rebooting iPad 2, screen flickering on AppleTV, graphical glitches on iPod Touch, battery life issues on iPhone and iPad 2, Daylight Savings Time adjustment problems, and now FaceTime frozen face problem. It is quite unfortunate that not even Apple’s own FaceTime app is spared from embarrassing series of problems this time.

Apparently, in this issue, FaceTime keeps showing the last frozen face it took of the user. And, sometimes the other party just sees black screen of you. And whenever you launch FaceTime over again, it keeps showing the same frozen image.

How to fix this FaceTime problem

If you don’t like seeing an ugly frozen image of you showing up on FaceTime, or afraid that the other party might also be looking at that very same image of you on their side. Don’t worry. There’s an easy fix for this FaceTime freezing problem!

Method 1: Terminate and Re-Launch FaceTime

1. Launch FaceTime.
2. Press Home button. This would close Facetime and returns you to Home Screen.
3. Launch FaceTime again. The image should be back to normal.

However, if the frozen image of you is really stubborn and doesn’t go away that easily, then follow method #2.

Method 2: How to fully reboot your iPad 2 or iPhone

1. Hold down Home key and do not release it.
2. While holding down Home key, hold down Power/Sleep button and do not release them yet.
3. Screen would go black. Wait for the Apple Logo to appear.
4. When the Apple logo appears, you can now release both Home Key and Power/Sleep button.

That should get rid of the frozen image on FaceTime. However, these are just temporary solutions. The problem with FaceTime will inherently turn up again. Restoring your device to factory defaults won’t fix this problem either.

These methods only apply to 2nd generation Apple TV.

Method 1: Download and install update directly from your Apple TV

1. Using your Apple Remote, go to Apple TV “Settings” > General” menu options.
3. Select “Update Software” option. Wait until Apple TV finishes checking for updates online.

4. Select “Download and Install” option.

Important Note: It might take a while for the Apple TV to download and update its firmware. During the update process, Apple TV may restart itself and show status bars. Make sure you do not power off or unplug your Apple TV while it is updating.

Method 2: Update your Apple TV through iTunes

1. Make sure you are using latest version of iTunes. Go to “Help” menu and select “Check for updates” on iTunes. If there’s an update available, choose to download and install it.
2. Download Apple TV 4.2.1 (8F202) firmware.
3. Connect your PC or Mac to your Apple TV via micro-USB port.
4. On iTunes, Option+Click on the “Restore” button. (For Windows users, hold SHIFT and Click on “Restore” button.)
5. Specify the location of the file you’ve downloaded in step 2.
6. Choose to continue and your Apple TV will start updating.

Important Note: It might take a while for the Apple TV to download and update its firmware. During the update process, Apple TV may restart itself and show status bars. Make sure you do not power off or unplug your Apple TV while it is updating.

Method 1: Delete Exchange accounts on your iPhone manually

1. Tap Settings icon on your Home screen.

2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendar

3. Turn off Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

4. Tap on your Exchange account name.

5. Scroll to the bottom and tap on Delete Account button.

If you don’t see the “Delete Account” button, then follow Method 2 below.

6. Finally, tap Delete Account button once again to confirm deletion.

Repeat the steps above for all Exchange accounts you want to remove.

Method 2: Delete Exchange accounts/profile configured by mobile networks

Important Note:
Removing the profile will also remove any certificates and Wi-Fi/VPN settings included in that profile.

1. Tap Settings icon on your Home screen.

5. Tap again to confirm removal.

How to Fix Exchange Mail Push Notification Issues

So far, there are two methods that are known to fix iPhone Exchange Email Push Notification and the related battery draining issues.

However, you should understand that you will be losing some data using either of the two methods below. Make sure to write down important or hard to remember settings, and backup your data before attempting the following methods.

Method 1: Delete Exchange Mail Accounts and Reset Network Settings

1. Reset Network Settings
Before resetting network settings, make sure you remember all your Wi-Fi passwords, write down your phone’s DNS settings, and Mail account settings. You will have to restore them afterwards.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

This will cause your iPhone to restart, and will delete any stored Wi-Fi passwords as well as DNS settings and more. It may, however, restore your ability to join a stubborn wireless network, let you access stalled Web pages, or eliminate issues with EDGE data access that can occur for various reasons.

3. After rebooting your iPhone, re-enable (turn on) Mail, Contacts, and Calendars under Exchange ActiveSync settings.

4. Manually add back your email accounts. Do not restore from iTunes backup.

If you still experience the same problems, then try method 2.

Method 2: Reset iPhone to factory defaults

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You will lose all your application settings, messages, and game saves using this method. And admittedly, this is far from a reasonable solution to perform after every iOS update. However, this is the method you’ll most likely get from Apple Technical Support and from Apple Support Discussion forum users.

1. Restore the iPhone through iTunes.
2. Don’t restore the iPhone from the backup but set it up as a new phone.
3. Re-sync Apps, Photo, Music, and etc. with iTunes.
4. Recreate Exchange mail accounts
